STOP 5: RAWNCHY

STOP 5: RAWNCHY

For my final blog post, I visited Rawnchy, a small plant-based cafe in Dennistoun.  The Food  The main menu is available via a QR which is found on each table, this can be seen below: Additionally, the cafe has an extensive drinks menu: The cafe also offers occasion cakes which can be ordered in the cafe or online.  Rather than ordering a standard coffee, we decided to be adventurous with our drinks and ordered a rose, charcoal, and param violet latte. Although these were aesthetically pleasing, the taste was very sweet. If you enjoy sweet drinks these would be a good option. However, if you do not have a very sweet tooth, a 'special latte' is probably not for you.  In terms of food, we went for the virtue stack, pastrami, and salted caramel brownie.  Despite knowing Rawnchy is a plant-based cafe, one of us didn't realise the pastrami would be a plant-based alternative...this sandwich did not go down well. However, the virtue stack and salted caramel brown...

STOP 4: TIBO BISTRO

Tibo is a small cafe which offers all-day food. I visited with two others during the week in an attempt to improve our moods after a uni test... It is possible to make a booking, however, when we went, we were fine to just walk in.

Tibo Bistro Dennistoun

The Food

Tibo classes itself as a Scottish restaurant. As you can see from the menu below, they offer a range of seafood, meat, and vegetarian meals.

breakfast/lunch/dinner ideas

We were there before midday, so each opted for a breakfast dish.

vegetarian full breakfast, scottish breakfast

The two meals on the right in the image above were full vegetarian breakfasts, on the left is the full Scottish breakfast. The full Scottish breakfast consisted of standard cooked breakfast foods. On the other hand, the vegetarian breakfast was unique as it included halloumi, vegetarian haggis, and avocado.

I also visited Tibo previously during summer with a friend. Below is a photo of the cheeseburger and fries my friend ordered.
On both occasions, the food in Tibo has been amazing. It is an ideal restaurant for any time of day. Since I stay very close to the restaurant, I hope to soon visit during the evening to see if that is just as good.

The Interior/Atmosphere

With a dark colour scheme, Tibo is very unique inside. This makes it feel pretty cosy and welcoming. One side of the restaurant looks onto Duke Street, making it a prime spot for people-watching.
Halloween Glasgow
Tibo is unlike previous establishments I have reviewed in the sense that they have open-mic nights, exhibitions, and film projects which support the local community.

Prices

The prices are shown on the menu above, they certainly reflect the quality of food and portion sizes.

Overall, Tibo is another great spot in Dennistoun. If you're searching for somewhere with good food and entertainment or a brunch spot to take your mind off of uni work I would 100% recommend going here.
