For my final blog post, I visited Rawnchy, a small plant-based cafe in Dennistoun.
The Food
The main menu is available via a QR which is found on each table, this can be seen below:
Additionally, the cafe has an extensive drinks menu:The cafe also offers occasion cakes which can be ordered in the cafe or online.
Rather than ordering a standard coffee, we decided to be adventurous with our drinks and ordered a rose, charcoal, and param violet latte.
Although these were aesthetically pleasing, the taste was very sweet. If you enjoy sweet drinks these would be a good option. However, if you do not have a very sweet tooth, a 'special latte' is probably not for you.
In terms of food, we went for the virtue stack, pastrami, and salted caramel brownie.
The Interior/Atmosphere
Inside, with lots of fairy lights, the cafe is cosy and interestingly decorated. With a pink exterior, the cafe is definitely eye-catching.
There is also a section in the cafe offering merchandise. This consists of products such as coffee beans, tote bags and candles.
Next to the desk, there were various leaflets including one promoting the people's summit for climate justice and one detailing a 'Plant-Based Guide to Glasgow'.
In terms of atmosphere, it was very relaxed, and the staff were friendly.
Prices
For a plant-based cafe, the prices offer value for money. Plant-based foods can often be more expensive than regular foods, however, this is not the case here.
Overall, this is certainly the most unique cafe I have been to in Dennistoun. I enjoyed the experience but if you are someone who enjoys meat/doesn't like plant-based foods, you might not love this place.
The cafe's website offers plenty more information: https://www.rawnchy.co.uk/
