STOP 5: RAWNCHY

STOP 5: RAWNCHY

For my final blog post, I visited Rawnchy, a small plant-based cafe in Dennistoun.  The Food  The main menu is available via a QR which is found on each table, this can be seen below: Additionally, the cafe has an extensive drinks menu: The cafe also offers occasion cakes which can be ordered in the cafe or online.  Rather than ordering a standard coffee, we decided to be adventurous with our drinks and ordered a rose, charcoal, and param violet latte. Although these were aesthetically pleasing, the taste was very sweet. If you enjoy sweet drinks these would be a good option. However, if you do not have a very sweet tooth, a 'special latte' is probably not for you.  In terms of food, we went for the virtue stack, pastrami, and salted caramel brownie.  Despite knowing Rawnchy is a plant-based cafe, one of us didn't realise the pastrami would be a plant-based alternative...this sandwich did not go down well. However, the virtue stack and salted caramel brown...

STOP 2: COIA'S CAFE

Coia's Cafe Review

Established in 1928, Coia's Cafe is a restaurant and delicatessen. The restaurant takes bookings and offers the option to takeaway. I visited the restaurant with a friend on a Saturday night, it was busy but we were able to make a reservation on the day.

The Food

We chose from the A La Carte menu. The options included pizza, pasta, risotto, burgers, steak, and seafood.  Additionally, there is a wide selection of starters. We shared the focaccia with mozzarella as a starter.

Next, we enjoyed the Spaghetti Alle Cozza, the calzone with mushrooms and olives, and a bowl of chips which we were accidentally given  - definitely an added bonus.

The food was incredible and the portions were massive, the pasta may have even rivaled Glasgows Sugo Pasta. We didn't manage to finish everything but were given the rest in a takeaway box.

Regarding drinks, Coia's has a large wine and cocktail list. Yet having been out the previous night, we stuck with softdrinks.

The dessert menu was just as impressive as the main menu and included homemade ice cream. Unfortunately, we were far too full to try any.

Prices

The price absolutely reflects the food quality. As a student, there are plenty of main courses for under £10. If you are visiting the restaurant for a special occasion or have a larger budget, there are some more pricey options.

Interior and Atmosphere

Coia's gold and blue exterior make it impossible to miss. The seating inside consists of large booths and smaller tables. The decor includes displays of wine bottles, flowers, and hanging chandeliers. The smaller tables were slightly cramped therefore I would recommend requesting a booth when booking. In terms of staff, they were all very attentive and friendly.

To summarise, I would recommend Coia's Cafe without hesitation to students or anyone else who finds themselves in Dennistoun. The quality and variety of food makes the restaurant ideal for all.
