STOP 5: RAWNCHY

STOP 5: RAWNCHY

For my final blog post, I visited Rawnchy, a small plant-based cafe in Dennistoun.  The Food  The main menu is available via a QR which is found on each table, this can be seen below: Additionally, the cafe has an extensive drinks menu: The cafe also offers occasion cakes which can be ordered in the cafe or online.  Rather than ordering a standard coffee, we decided to be adventurous with our drinks and ordered a rose, charcoal, and param violet latte. Although these were aesthetically pleasing, the taste was very sweet. If you enjoy sweet drinks these would be a good option. However, if you do not have a very sweet tooth, a 'special latte' is probably not for you.  In terms of food, we went for the virtue stack, pastrami, and salted caramel brownie.  Despite knowing Rawnchy is a plant-based cafe, one of us didn't realise the pastrami would be a plant-based alternative...this sandwich did not go down well. However, the virtue stack and salted caramel brown...

Some Background Information

I'm sure most people can relate when I say that one of my favourite activities is going out for a meal or a coffee. However,  by far one of my least favourite things to do is deciding where to go. In my opinion there is no worse task than spending substantial periods of time searching through online reviews or endlessly walking the streets in search for the best café or restaurant.

For my first two years studying at the University of Strathclyde and living in Glasgow I stuck to exploring cafés and restaurants in Glasgow's city centre and West-End. However, having moved to Dennistoun for third-year I have found myself exploring new establishments. Dennistoun is a small neighbourhood in Glasgow located around a twenty minute walk from the city centre. In recent years due to its gentrification the area has become increasingly popular amongst students.

Given my love for food, dislike for the process of deciding where to eat and a general lack of available information on where is best in Glasgow's East-End, I thought a blog aimed at advising where to eat in Dennistoun would be an ideal fit.

I hope you find these posts helpful!
